Jonathan Zachreson and the Students First PAC
The “Students First PAC” ad disclaimer reads “Not authorized by a candidate or a committee controlled by a candidate” and yet Roseville school board candidate Jonathan Zachreson (founder of Reopen California Schools) answers emails to the PAC with his own Students First email.
Jonathan Zachreson endorsed himself through his Student’s First PAC.
We’ve reported them to the state for possible campaign violations.
For a stated goal of putting students first, there is a noticeable lack of any content on their page that speaks to supporting parents and students with resources. Instead, each post attacks a single candidate.
These attacks are easily disproven through readily available public information. On a recent post, the PAC commented that people were welcome to fact-check their claim. So we did. They deleted our comments and blocked us from commenting. (here is that fact-check information, after our comment was removed, we published it as our own Facebook post: shorturl.at/adx05).
The Student’s First PAC sent a mailer to every voter in Rocklin supporting the American Council/ Destiny Church slate.
There are more questions than answers raised by all of this.
Did Jonathan Zachreson create the PAC in order to endorse himself for the Roseville school board?
If this is a state-wide PAC, why is it focused on a single race?
Why is a Roseville school board candidate so focused on the Rocklin school board?
Is the PAC’s funding coming heavily from Rocklin, for the specific purpose of swaying Rocklin voters in favor of the American Council Slate?
Is money for the Rocklin race being sent through the Student’s First PAC to hide who is donating?
Why didn’t those donors simply donate to the candidates themselves, and have the candidates run ads and send mailers, as is the normal process?
Will Placer County be reviewing the falsified statements in “Student’s First” ads?
